In the Big Blue World

Today was a really really fun day!!

It turns out that Alex, Sara and I all didn't work until later so we decided to go to Disney's Animal Kingdom!
DAK is a wonderful place to be. I really enjoy that park. I love its energy, the theme, the vibe. Great place.

We went on Expedition Everest first.. Duh! It's an amazing roller coaster... I like how it has a bit of a story, and it's thrilling.
We also rode Dinosaur today. I. Love. Dinosaur. I think it's a highly underrated Disney ride. "They're not gonna make it! They're not gonna make it!!!.... You made it!"

My big first of the day was watching Finding Nemo the Musical. It's actually phenomenal. I know you're probably like... Lindsay... you say everything is amazing in your blog and it's Disney so it probably is.. But trust me.. this show was pretty darn good! I can't believe I haven't seen it before!

We also had a dance party in the African village Harambe. That was so much fun!

We had lunch at the Flame Tree BBQ. I had a salad which was meh (SEE NOT EVERYTHING IS AMAZING) but the chocolate mousse I had for dessert was to die for!!

We also saw... surprise surprise.. some animals! There was this huge African frog.. huge huge huge bullfrog. This little boy was like "dad...dad....dad...dad....dad.." and then finally the dad was like "what?" and the kid was like "that's how the teenage mutant ninja turtles started" and the dad was like "that's a frog but good try" HAHA

So great day with those girls! I love Alex and Sara. They make me laugh so so much. I am so happy that I get to be their friend :)

Finding Nemo ^

I worked at Crystal Palace again. It was okay! I rolled silverware for a bit, then I seated.. we were out earlier than I expected too which was kinda nice AND the B bus was earlier. The people at CP are so nice and welcoming :) So no major complaints. Only one more shift with Winnie then back to the castle Sunday (SO pumped)

They're quick, but I'm much faster, here goes, better throw my hand in, wish me happy landin', all I gotta do is jump!

Today was fun!
My friends Amy and Emily (they're sisters!) are flying home to Ontario for their graduation (congrats girls!!) so a bunch of us had a congratulatory/see ya later breakfast at Golden Corral this morning with them! It was wonderful except it was at 8:30 and I went to bed VERY VERY late last night so I was super tired. But there was a bunch of us Canadians and one lovely English girl Jenny and we had a great meal!

I came back to Vista and napped on the couch pretty much until work haha!

I worked at Crystal Palace again today. It was fun! I was on door most of the night, including close, and I seated as well. Minimal silver rolling!!
I got to watch all the shows again.. I even got to see Dream Along with Mickey for the first time :)
And once again I teared up during Wishes and The Magic, The Memories and You.. I can't wait until my family and friends come and I can experience it with them... it's sad watching all the families watching it together, enjoying life at Disney World.. but it's also happy that such magical family moments do still occur :)

Back at CP tomorrow.. and hopefully some adventures in the morning!

We'll make a wish, and do as dreamers do and all our wishes, all our wishes, all our wishes, will come true

Today I was feeling adventurous and productive.
I took a bus to Chatham and then walked to the Publix grocery store. I really needed groceries and I didn't want to go to Walmart because it's really out of the way and annoying to get there. Publix has really nice things and I'm probably good for groceries until I leave- no joke haha.
I ended up taking a taxi home instead of walking with a ton of groceries.

I read a book by the pool for a bit and got some sun- I am officially addicted to Florida sunshine.. I love it so much. My skin is officially not pasty anymore!

I took the bus to Magic Kingdom nice and early for work. I went to a store that sells cast member merch, so I got a few cast member souvenirs :).
I was also able to "break" with the CRT people!! :) It was fun just to hang out with those ladies. I miss everyone there! We have a few new CPs now... I'm excited for new friends but I blame my deployment on them haha.

The first part of my shift was a class- it was more of a Traditions type class, a lot on guest service and courtesy. It was fun though. I love the Disney company.
I was back at Crystal Palace for my shift. The coordinator let me do "door" for most of the night which was FANTASTIC. I got to open the door for people.. which sounds boring but it's a lot of fun when you're at Crystal Palace in the middle of main street. You get a lot of people pass by and ask you questions about the Magic Kingdom... which is soooo cool because it's my favorite place on Earth and I can talk about it forever.

I also got to watch BOTH Magic, Memories and You shows and Wishes, from OUTSIDE the castle. Normally inside the castle I only hear it and see the odd firework and definitely not the picture show. I teared up watching these shows... I love the Magic Kingdom.
It was so nice to see families enjoy it too. A very enjoyable evening.
:)

Back at CP tomorrow!

Days Off Update

I had yesterday & today off :)

Yesterday was fun! I got to sleep in a bit which was much needed since I got home late the night before from work.
I went to Hollywood Studios with a new friend of mine! It was a lot of fun :)  We went for dinner at Applebee's, my first Applebee's experience!
Last night I got locked out of my apartment- long story- but I ended up bumping into Alexis after I had to get a spare key! That was lucky because she was headed to Downtown Disney by herself to watch a movie and asked if I wanted to join! We ended up watching the Avengers. We bought large Icees and popcorn and treated ourselves :) We were quite sleepy- I think I had a nap during the middle- but it was still an amazing movie and a fun time. Downtown Disney is a really fun place to be.

Today was one of my good friend's birthdays- Danielle! I met her and Devin at Magic Kingdom. We met Rapunzel! :) It was so cute- Rapunzel asked Dani if her town set off lanterns for her birthday like they do for her.

We then went over to the Swan and Dolphin resorts. They have a mini golf place over there! It was fun! I lost but only by a few strokes hehe. Devin was the champ today. It was Dani's birthday wish to meet Rapunzel and to minigolf so I'd say mission accomplished :)

Tonight I'm actually going BACK to Applebee's to have dinner with Dani, Devin and perhaps more folks :)

I'm kinda sad that I'm back to work tomorrow. Days off here are so epic :(. But I might do some laundry tonight and get my costume ready for tomorrow and get excited to go back to Crystal Palace.

Just as a side note- I miss CRT already. I can't believe the program is already halfway over. I am going to be a mess when I leave. I miss everyone back home and I miss Nova Scotia, I absolutely love everything about it, but it's going to be very sad to leave Disney World after living here for 3 months :(. Not to mention I have met some amazing people and I'm meeting new people all the time- I don't get to spend a lot of time with them! I try to make sure to see people as much as I can because I know we all won't be here forever :(

So sad. But it does help me to seize the day everyday!

Pooh-Rade

I am deployed this week to Crystal Palace. They sometimes get (i)CP's to go to other locations depending on where they can give them hours. So I'm still in the Magic Kingdom, but down on Main Street, and playing with Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet and Tigger instead of with princesses.

Crystal Palace is a beautiful restaurant. Absolutely stunning. So is CRT though. It's a buffet, and CRT is not. It's MASSIVE and CRT definitely isn't. Crystal Palace has more than 100 tables- we have less than 50. They have a Pooh-Rade where all the characters strut around the restaurant and little kids follow in a little parade and everyone claps their hands- it's really precious. I also LOVE the costume way more at Crystal Palace- a cute little yellow blouse, an A-line yellow skirt, and the best part, a white apron with lace and crisscross straps in the back. So precious.

My day was really good. Everyone was really friendly! I was also given a seating chart and trained to be a Crystal Palace seater which is good so I won't end up rolling silverware for entire shifts. It's way easier to seat at Crystal I think, even with the immense amount of tables, because they're a buffet and do not require menus, and they don't have wishing stars like we do at CRT. So you seat with your hands and pockets empty!

I'm off the next two days but back at Crystal Palace Wednesday through Sunday. I am still a little sad to not be with my CRT folk but it's cool to say I've worked at two restaurants at Disney World and Crystal Palace is a very cute and happy place to be.

Rain Rain Go Away Come Again on a School Day

Yesterday was a really good day!
I went to Cici's with Alex for lunch in the morning. Yummm pizza. We also stopped at the Dollar Tree... you should have seen the pair of us.. we were looking at cleaning supplies like total idiots! We were like "is this brush for the floor...or dishes... or the toilets?" Turns out neither of us experts on cleaning/supplies, but I think we managed to get some useful things for our apartments!!

At work I was on podium YAY. It was pouring rain, which meant a lot of guests would be underneath the castle, seeking shelter. This is always hectic when you're on podium because you can't differentiate between guests with reservations and guests just avoiding getting soaked. To make matters worse, it was Kelsey and I ... and Kelsey is newer than I am at podium! And to top it all off: OUR COMPUTERS WENT DOWN. Meaning we had to write out reservations on cards, give them to the assigner downstairs who communicated via radio with an assigner upstairs to see what tables were free, and we had to do the old school "paper route".
But Kelsey and I did a really good job, so they said! It was pretty stressful but luckily our computers came back up by the second turn then it was just a regular night at podium which I loved!

I had a late night conversation with Emily Dangerfield- she's excellent for those- then I headed off to bed!
