Grocery Bingo

Today was good. I've been feeling a little down lately (well compared to the hype of the first few weeks), probably just because I'm getting into a normal routine with real life work and everyone is always so busy it's hard to see people. Not to mention I've been to Epcot twice in two days which is more than enough for anybody (hehe) so today was really good.

Why so good?

I worked mornings. I actually loved it. I was seater for awhile then I was greeter assistant (which I love because you get to stand in the lobby and talk to guests). I met all sorts of new princess friends. Everyone loves to talk to me about being from Canada too which I love. I also try to say "have a magical day!" to guests as much as possible when they're leaving because when in real life would you ever get a chance to say that!?
At lunch we had a retirement party for a lady who is retiring and everyone brought in food- yum yum!

Tonight I made spaghetti (yummm) and then I headed off to GROCERY BINGO

So the International College Program is actually really cool. Disney often puts on events for us. Tonight was Grocery Bingo outside on the Chatham field (Chatham being another apartment complex). I went with Magalie, Bree and Pearl.
There was DJ and he played AWESOME tunes all night.
We all sat around (there were a ton of people there) and played bingo. They were giving away amazing amounts of groceries- bags and bags to each winner. Between games we all stood up and did dances like the Cupid Shuffle.
I didn't win any groceries but I did snag a Disney lanyard and a pen that they were throwing out!

So today was a lot of fun and really reminded me why I'm here and why I love it here. I work mornings again tomorrow which I'm looking forward to! Another day to make magic :)

Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow

On my day off on Tuesday I went to Epcot with Alexis, which was fun! We got to a lot of the attractions I haven't done yet.

Yesterday was my first morning shift without being in training. It was one of those days where you feel like you can't do anything right but it did end up going pretty well. I was updater for the first time which was really stressful because you have to set tables and put high chairs where they belong and have a radio and be fast and all that jazz. I liked it because it was fast paced. I didn't like it because I felt like I was always in someone's way. I guess I'll get the hang of it.
The biggest perk of working mornings is having evenings off- so last night a big group of us hit Epcot again. We ate in Japan and tried on kimonos and went on Mission Space. A pretty fun evening!

I work mornings again until Sunday. Let's hope they go okay!

Shamu was Swimming in the Ocean Blue

Day off :)

I was able to sleep in (yayaya!) and so did my roomie Steph who was also today, so it was a really nice lazy morning.
I was also able to Skype my dearest friend LIDIA SIMOES :) It was nice to see her but I wish we could hang out in real life :( It's so hard to go from spending almost every second with someone to not seeing them at all :(  I'm so excited to see her again in real life but I'm also gonna try to Skype more often (in general as well!)

My big plan for the day was SEA WORLD. I headed out with Alex, Alexis and Alex's friend from her program last summer. He works at SeaWorld now and got our tickets 50% off (no complaints there!!)
At first the day was kinda slow... There was a tropical storm going over Florida today so there was thunder and lightning and rain... meaning a lot of the rides got closed temporarily. This kinda sucked because we're all roller coaster buffs and those were the main things we wanted to do.
We made the best of it for the time being and we went on Turtle Trek- which was quite strange and not as exciting as all the billboards make it out to be- and got some supper. I actually had an excellent vegetarian chili in a massive bread bowl.

Luckily though the dark clouds passed and it seemed to be good weather again :). We watched a killer whale show at the Shamu Stadium. Now the show was really entertaining and it's really impressive that those whales can do the routines but I do feel bad for them. As big as the pool is, it's not the ocean. They get fed treats and have to perform tricks... it's just not natural. While I was being entertained, a part of me definitely felt guilty and sad for the whales. SeaWorld insists over and over again that they're treated well, and although it is sad that's highly unnatural for them to be in this environment, at least they're treated humanely!

We finally got to ride the roller coasters Kracken and Manta. Kracken is exciting. It goes upside down a few times but it's nothing too extreme or special. Manta on the other hand is probably the scariest coaster I've done to date. You're just in a really awkward position, almost laying down (tilted forward) so basically all you see is ground. You go upside down and all you see is sky. It is truly a weird sensation. It was one of those coasters where I screamed soooo much and I even kept screaming after we stopped because I was still so shaken up. We rode it twice hehe.

We also rode this bizarre Journey to Atlantis ride and this arctic helicopter simulation ride.. They were both pretty random and not really what I'm used to ;)

I bought my first Dippin' Dots. They're like ice cream dots and mine was cookies and cream flavored. It was overpriced amusement park food and cost probably an hour's worth of work but it was decent.

We also watched another show at night: Shamu Rocks. Again the whales did similar tricks as before but to rock music haha. It was fun. Still felt guilty though.

Great day though with my friends :) I really needed a day off!

Tonight when I got back to Vista Way I headed over to another building to have a Cinderella's Royal Table girls night with some other ICPs who work at CRT :) There was Nicki from New Zealand, Kelly from the USA and Jessica from Puerto Rico. We never got around to watching a movie but we pigged out on food (whoopsies...) and laughed a lot. These girls are very sweet and I'm glad I get to work with them :) It's also cool to learn about the different cultures! I guess that's what ICP is for!

Day off again tomorrow :)

1 Timothy 2:5

I didn't blog yesterday because I was so exhausted! I'll explain why momentarily.

So yesterday was Sunday. What do I normally do on Sundays? Go to church of course! I figured I was settled into Orlando enough to figure out a place to go to church. Last Sunday I had just done a "do it yourself" church in my room.

In our program guide they gave us a list of nearby churches listed by denomination. I googled the Baptist one and it actually looks amazing- and huge. However it would be a $30 taxi drive one way. I'd love to go but I honestly couldn't afford $60/week to go to church.

The nearest church come to find out is Catholic. I'm not a Catholic and I've never been to a Catholic mass before, but I do have some connections to Catholicism on my dad's side and I've always wanted to experience it. So I ordered the 7$ taxi to take me there.

My friend Alex came along with me. She's Greek Orthodox which is quite similar to Catholicism but there are definitely some differences. It was so much fun to have Alex with me because a) it wasn't as lonely, it's always better with friends! and b) we were able to discuss differences between our denominations and Catholicism and we were able to share what we liked about our denominations together. It was a really neat experience and I'm very thankful for Alex :)

The service was beautiful. I really enjoyed it. The priest was very personable and charismatic. There were a lot of things that were quite different than a usual Baptist service. However I think I could end up going to this church for the three months while I'm here. A 3 month Catholic!

The good news? Apparently it's right behind The Commons another Disney accommodation place, so we walked to The Commons and took a bus back to Vista. So I can get to church for free!

They have tons of services throughout the week too so I can adjust according to my work schedule.

I then went to work. It was fun. I was podium for awhile then greeter assistant (I LOVE BEING GREETER ASSIST. You just talk to people!) I then did "last check" at the podium essentially meaning I closed the restaurant. This was stressful because normally at last check the park is closed so you're just chilling alone- nope not me and my first check... extra magic hours meant the park was open til 3 am so I had a lot of people coming up to me asking about the restaurant and other issues to deal with. It was stressful but my leader helped me and we successfully closed the restaurant.

Anyway I only got in bed at 2 am last night! :(

I'm off today. Thank goodness. My legs hurt from standing all the time at work! I'm excited to see my friends again today as well. I'll let you know how it goes :)

seater.

So today I woke up earlier and went to play in the Magic Kingdom :)

I went in all the shops in Main Street and all the shops in Fan Land, Adventureland and Frontierland and Liberty Square... pretty much everything except Tomorrowland.
I went on Pirates of the Caribbean by myself (LOVE that ride) and met Winnie the Pooh and Tigger for the first time!
I also bought this adorable crystal Cinderella slipper with a diamond in it for my birthstone. It's so cute- I want to get it engraved sometime.

Work was good. I was seater. My feet hurt. But it was fun. :)

podium.

i love working at the podium. it consists of standing downstairs in the underneath of the castle, greeting guests, and checking in reservations.
i worked at the podium today. it was the most memorable part of the day.
i also really enjoyed my downstairs coworkers today. i work with lovely people, really and truly.

i might get up early tomorrow and do something worthwhile before work like PLAY AT MK!

"yes this whole place is magic! that's why they call it the magic kingdom!"

I woke up.
I went to Walgreens.
I took the B bus with Sara and Alex to MK.
I played in MK with Sara, Alex and soon Dani.
We went on Hall of Presidents (<3), Country Bears Jamboree, Splash Mountain.
We met Mary Poppins.
I went to work.
I bought Subway for lunch.
I was greeter.
YAY FOR LUCKING OUT ON GOOD JOB ASSIGNMENTS.
I talked to people.
I made some new princess friends.
I made a few little mistakes.
I laughed and smiled a lot.
I made some magic.
I'm sleepy now.

i love my job.

today i had to wake up super early (4:30 am to be exact) to go to the social security office and get my social security number...yaaaaaay...
but my day got increasingly better after that! :)

A group of 10 of us went to the Golden Corral for a breakfast buffet which was absolutely marvelous. It was nice to be a big group of us again :)

Work was FANTASTIC. I was seater for the first half- and didn't use my cheat sheet for the table numbers- and then podium for the second half. LOVE LOVE LOVE podium.

So I'm exhausted now but I love my job and I love the people I work with! :)

bbbbbblizzard beach!

My last day off for awhile :( Sara also had the day off so we went to Blizzard Beach together :)
It was super fun. I think I liked it better than Typhoon Lagoon.
We went on most of the slides- NOT Summit Plummet- one that drops you like straight down really fast.
The slides were great. We went on a double tube once, and on a group rafting one with some friendly people. Our friend Alexis was working on one slide we went on.
We also did the Chair Lift, laid in the sun, met Goofy and best of all, went the entire length of the lazy river TWICE.

I'm just chilling tonight I think- I'm exhausted... a lot of sunshine! I was gonna go to Magic Kingdom- I miss playing there, but tomorrow I have to LEAVE Vista at 6 to get my US Social Security number... and then work 2:45-11:30 sooooo tomorrow is a busy scary day. Second shift without a trainer, I'm really nervous.

Here are some googled images of Blizzard.

Adventures

Today was another day off! Yay!

So the exciting thing about today was that Sara, Alexis and Alex all had the day off too :) So we made some awesome plans.

ART OF ANIMATION OPEN MOUSE

For those of you who don't know, Disney is opening a new resort: the Art of Animation resort. Today they had an open "mouse" for cast members to check it out before it officially opens in a few weeks.
Let me just say, it was amazing. All the rooms were spectacularly themed. There was a Finding Nemo section (first opening) and sections for Cars and Lion King. I don't want to give away too many secrets but it looks like you stepped onto the set of these films. The pools, arcade and themed playgrounds are amazing too.
They gave us these pamphlets that you had to go around and get stamped, and then you got a pin for completing the tour!

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS

We then took a taxi to.... cover your ears, Mickey Mouse... Universal Studios!!! It was a total blast! We all got seasons passes because it'll be worth it if you go like twice, no kidding.
We did Islands of Adventure first.
We went on the Hulk (scary upside down roller coaster), the Harry Potter ride in Hogwarts (two times in a row), drank butter beer (yummmm), went on Dueling Dragons (another scary roller coaster) and then walked around a bit before heading to the other Universal park.
Here we went on the Rock'n'Rip It roller coaster or something- TERRIFYING but so much fun. We also went on the Mummy ride and the Men In Black ride.

It was a pretty fun day :) I really like Universal. It doesn't beat Disney for me but it's still a ton of fun and most likely better than the local amusement park. I'm hoping to go a few times this summer for sure!

I'm hoping to go swimming here at Vista tonight... I got a little sun burned today!!

I had fun with these girls today!!

Sunday, May 20, 2012

Today was good, today was fun, tomorrow is another one.

First day of real work without a trainer.
I was a seater.
I took all royal families to the correct tables.
Success.
Exhaustion.

"Do One Thing a Week That Scares You" -Lidia Simoes

So it was another day off today! Yay! :)
Yes I DO actually work, I work tomorrow in fact, but my days off are weirdly scheduled all close together. This coming week I work a bunch of days in a row.

I was really productive today and got everything I wanted to do done except going to the gym :(. Oh well.
I did my first load of Vista Way laundry! My clothes smell super duper good!

I went to Walmart and got enough groceries to last a lifetime!

I also cleaned up around the apartment.

After Alexis and Alex got off work we joined Sara at Hollywood Studios again. We watched the Hyperspace Hoopla for a second time- it's THAT good. We went on Rock'n'Roller Coaster and then....guess what.... I WENT ON TOWER OF TERROR. That's right folks, I faced my fear, and now I have ZERO Disney rides I'm afraid of!! YAY!!! It's actually a pretty neat ride and I recommend it. It's not THAT bad! I feel like Rock'n'Roller is scarier!!

We watched my first Fantasmic of the summer and then caught the bus home!

So I guess to sum up the day... I did something really cool by riding ToT and I also got to hang out with Alex, Sara and Alexis again! They're so much fun! Alex held my hand in ToT and I was really appreciative of that hehe. They're really great girls and I'm glad I'm getting to be friends with them! :)

... for those of you who don't know, Tower of Terror is a big elevator ride where they drop you and then lift you and drop you and make you sick and terrify you. See below for a googled image.

May the Force be with You

Today was AWESOME!!!!

It was my day off and Alex, Sara and Dani also had it off so we all went to Hollywood Studios for the Star Wars weekends event, the first day of the first weekend was today :)

Basically it's a bunch of Star Wars characters out and about, parades, shows, even celebrity autograph sessions with actors from the films.

I'm not a fan... I've never even seen Star Wars but I still had a great time!

We met all sorts of characters (See pics on Facebook) and we rode the Great Movie Ride AND we got fastpasses for Toy Story Mania. We also did the American Idol Experience (it was my first time). We ate at the Backlot Express as well as the Sci-Fi Drive In Diner (great experience- I had an oreo cookie milkshake that was so good) We also took an Art of Animation class and learned to draw Woody! Alex's looked like a drug addict Woody and we laughed for days. We took our drawings to Buzz and Woody to show them and Woody signed them all saying GOOD JOB!! :) Even Alex's hahaha

We watched the Hyperspace Hoopla show at night. It was soooo funny- Star Wars characters dancing to modern music like LMFAO and Starships haha.

I love Hollywood Studios and I had a great time with the girls I went with! They're so sweet and so much fun! :)

I'm off again tomorrow- but doing boring housekeeping things, hopefully Epcot or somewhere fun tomorrow night!

You Win Some You Lose Some

Today I was trained to be a stocker at work.

GOOD THINGS ABOUT TODAY:
  • I didn't start until 1pm so I could sleep in.
  • I had Subway for lunch :)
  • Stockers wear a different costume- just regular blue slacks and a button up blue shirt. I didn't have time or the motivation to try on my costume at costuming so I picked a random pair of pants that I thought might fit.... they did. They are actually the most comfortable things ever. I'm still wearing them haha.
  • Alexis and I went to Cast Connection and Property Control today. Disney sells discounted or broken merchandise as well as stuff that lingers in the lost and found for too long in a store JUST for cast members :) I bought a Duffy teddy bear, two gorgeous shirts and three pairs of sunglasses for cheap cheap cheap.
  • My coworkers continue to be nice. I think it's cause I'm from Canada. They get a kick out of that.
  • I've had a really big affinity for music lately. I listen to my iphone all the time. All the time. Breaks, walking, bus, anywhere. I just love it.
  • I'm trying to watch the Grey's finale meow, fingers crossed it works!
  • I didn't cut off a finger on the lemon slicer.
  • I'm off for a two days now!
BAD THINGS ABOUT TODAY:

  • Stocker sucks. Big time. It's a lot of physical labour, running around, on your feet, and it's 100% backstage and 0% interaction with guests. I didn't see the light of day all day, or ONE SINGLE guest. I was in the castle, underground, anywhere but with people. Not my thing. Luckily I only have to do it once in two weeks or something and not at all next week. But still.. IT SUCKS.
  • I think the mayyyy have forgotten to give me a break? or at least I didn't take advantage of the 20 minutes I had at 3 haha, should've ate then... I didn't eat for a long time.
  • I did cut my finger on the soup holder. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? I don't know.
  • Yeah stocker sucks.

a sleepy me and my new boy.

The Adventure Continues...

Quick post because I'm exhausted and wet and cold.

Work today! It was really good. I had another trainer but he was great too. We learned a lot about the backstage roles of being a seater- I like being on stage with guests way better but these roles weren't too bad! It's funny because I didn't interact with any guests or see sunlight at all but I still had a really good day with my coworkers :) It's a great place to work.

I had a big scary assessment at the end of the day. I was asked a lot of tough questions, I'm glad I'm such a Disney freak and I knew most of the answers. Turns out I did well and life is great. SHE ASKED ME WHAT THE MAIN CHARACTER OF BRAVE WAS CALLED! haha I WAS SO PUMPED! Merida <3

This evening, Saira, Lauren and Alexis went to Epcot to eat. We ate at the electric umbrella or whatever it's called. We also rode Soarin'. We then took the monorail and went to MK to watch Wishes. Alexis and I watched Wishes from Frontierland, between Splash and Big Thunder mountains, and it was AMAZING. They were so big. This is the third place I've watched Wishes other than main street USA.

I'm cold and wet cause we got caught in the rain on the way home.

Going to bed now but I had a good day! More work tomorrow, more backstage stuff which I'm kinda iffy about but hopefully it's enjoyable :)

Dream Big Live Grand

Another day off today!

I haven't seen my roomie Steph in DAYS because of our awkward schedules. :( So that was pretty sad.

But I woke up, and it was just Erica and I for the morning. I decided to go down the pool and start/finish reading the third book in the Hunger Games series!

I didn't like it as much as the other two (Catching Fire is my favorite). I found it slow compared to the other two. However, I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY x3592305920 liked the ending. So good job Suzanne Collins. Thank you for that.

After that, I went back to my apartment, made some lunch.. I was supposed to meet up with my friend Alexis but I haven't heard from her (still!) so she must have gotten otherwise preoccupied. So I decided to go on a little adventure by myself!

At first I was like "well that's kinda sad" but once I got going it was actually kinda fun. You don't really get too many experiences to just wander around by yourself, exploring whatever you want for as long as you want.
So I knew EXACTLY where I wanted to go.

First things first I had to go to MK Costuming and get a better sized costume. That'll be nice tomorrow.

After that I went to the cast member library at the Magic Kingdom and got two books on the Magic Kingdom! Hehehehe.

So then I emerged into the actual Magic Kingdom where guests go by secret measures. I bought a chocolate covered frozen banana yum yum. I then left the park, said hi to Eddy as park greeter, then I took the monorail to my ultimate destination the GRAND FLORIDIAN!!!!!

I can't even describe how beautiful it is so I'll show you some pictures. I would honestly honeymoon at this place. This is my favorite Disney resort and I was absolutely memorized.

I bought two souvenirs: a ring that has a little diamond Mickey and the letter "L". it sounds SUPER TACKY but trust me it's actually pretty cute. My other ring is AMAZING, I love it... it's just silver and engraved with "Dream Big Live Grand". It's just so special because I bought it at the Grand Floridian and I love it there and it was my own little Lindsay adventure.

I came back to Vista (made the B bus JUST IN TIME it was sick) and made supper, then my roomies came home SO IM NOT ALONE ANYMORE. Now we're just trying to decide what to do- it's a pouring rain and thunderstorm so that's kinda awkward but we're hoping to do something fun.

Here are the pictures, as promised... everyone should be able to experience this place:

um yeah so it kinda looks the Titanic.
And there was a gentleman playing the grand piano :)

the ring :)

I work 8:15-4:30 tomorrow :) Yay for more magic!

Have faith in your dreams, and someday, your rainbow will come smiling through

Today is a day I will remember.
It got better as it went along, but I'll start at the beginning.

I woke up leisurely this morning. I decided to go to the gym, then go for a little walk around Vista. I went to Walgreens, got a few things, then I walked to a big souvenir/food outlet store and bought some Florida souvenirs. Pretty generic morning.

THEN I GOT ON THE BUS TO WORK AND MY LIFE WAS COMPLETE.

So I took the A bus into work, got in, met my trainer again. I had the same trainer today as yesterday. I started my shift at 3:45.

The first thing we did was more e-learning stuff, so this stuff wasn't too too exciting. But then I had to read up on the "Cinderella Story"- We have this huge binder with pages on all the princesses, all the characters, their traits, their stories, etc, and I had to read it. There aren't too many jobs you can say require knowledge of princesses but this is one of them. Did I learn anything new? Yes, actually- I didn't know Cinderella's maiden name (Tremaine) or the names of her stepsisters (Anastasia and Drizella). I didn't even know there was a Cinderella three and I barely remembered the sequel.

We then went to the break room and got to sample the entire dinner menu. Holy smokes what a treat. Again, a large portion was inedible for me because of my partial vegetarianism but what I did try was phenomenal. I tried the cobia which is a fish caught off the coast of Florida- good cultural experience there. It was quite similar to haddock and I really enjoyed it. My favorite dessert was the chocolate mousse. My trainer laughed at me because I kept saying OOOOOH MY GOSH...OHHHH MY GOSH. It was SO good.

One of my favorite things about my job is the prep kitchen (we have two kitchens, a prep downstairs and the big one upstairs). They have huge speakers in there and they're always rockin' out. Yesterday they were on Michael Jackson, today random rock and roll, but when I left it was Empire State of Mind. Fun times.

Thennnn I got to go downstairs and learn how to do the podium. This is where guests check in. We welcome them, and explain the photo procedures (everyone takes pictures with Cindy downstairs, then goes upstairs. The other princesses circulate the tables upstairs). I was also trained to be greeter.... when you're greeter you like use a gong on these bells and announce LORDS AND LADIES OF THE CASTLE, CINDERELLA HAS AN INVITATION FOR THE ROYAL DOUCET FAMILY, LADY LINDSAY (or whatever the name is). I like this role. You also get to a wear a headset and look important.

Basically, I LOVE BEING OUT FRONT. This is where dreams come true. I saw so many little girls dressed up like princesses. I saw a lot of little Meridas. Merida is the girl from Brave- and you can tell already she's gonna be popular.

I love her already. I think she has some spunk.

But being outside you do get to talk to everyone. I had some good chats with people standing outside. I don't know, it really doesn't sound as amazing as it was when I put it into words. But I love children so much and just kneeling down and listening to them freak out about their amazing day at Disney World is so priceless. Like this is precisely what I signed up for. I really hope I can be downstairs as greeter or at the podium very often because I just loved it.

People also ask you a ton of questions about the Magic Kingdom and I love answering those too- putting my Disney knowledge to use!

Fun fact for you: did you know the center of the Magic Kingdom is right in front of the doors to our restaurant and is marked by a peg in the ground? Truth.

We had to wait until everyone was out of the restaurant at night and then we went home. I rolled into Vista at around 12:45 which was decent, but I'm just so tired because I was on my feet all day.

Another breath taking moment today was seeing Main Street USA all lit up at night but completely empty. Not everyone gets to see that. Also yesterday at my breakfast shift, my trainer was like "come here, you'll like this"- Main Street USA in the morning but completely empty. It actually did take my breath away.

Tonight I also watched the fireworks from underneath the castle (surprisingly you can see them- you'd think they were above the castle but they're actually more above Fantasyland). I love watching fireworks next to kids that are like WOW OH MY GOSH. So cute!

I wish everyone could get the chance to do what I do, just to see how amazing it is to create magic. I dress up, and go to work in a castle, with princesses and happy families. It really is the place where dreams come true!

Everyone is really nice too. My trainer was amazing. I also met some other CP's and they live in Vista too! I'm really looking forward to developing relationships with my coworkers as they seem like fantastic people.

SO happy with my job. You know it's a good sign when you tear up a few times just from happiness at your place of employment. Can't complain about that.

Salaga-doola, menchika-boola, Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo. Put them together, and what have you got? Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo. Salaga-doola, menchika-boola, Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo. It will do magic, believe it or not, Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo. Now, "Salagadoola" means, "A-Menchika-boola-roo," but the the thingamabob, that does the job, is "Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo."

First Day of Work, First Day with Mickey

So today was my first day of work!

I work at Cinderella's Royal Table in the Magic Kingdom. This is the restaurant in the castle for those of you who aren't up on your Disney facts.

I had to catch a bus at 5:06 am from Vista Way. Yeah fun times. I met my trainer on the bus to backstage Magic Kingdom. She was so nice! I really appreciated her patience, honesty and humor.

Basically today I was trained to be an upstairs seater. Guests at Cinderella's Royal Table come in, get their picture taken with Cinderella, then go upstairs and eat. While eating, the princesses take turns coming around and then we have a "wishing ceremony" where they use their little wands to make wishes or whatever- super cute.

So today I took guests to the tables and gave out menus and stuff. Tomorrow I'm being trained for downstairs- to do the "podium" and greet guests, also help facilitate the pictures with Cinderellie.

I also got to try EVERY thing on the menu for breakfast- it was so good. I didn't eat the stuff like steak but the stuff I did try was amazing.

The highlight of my day was witnessing a marriage proposal. Apparently they happen all the time at my restaurant!

I also loved seeing all these families enjoying a meal together. The dining room is also bursting with energy- the kids get so excited to see the princesses. It made it all worth it to see how happy everyone was.

After my shift ended at 2:30 I met up with Dani and soon Devin and we played around Magic Kingdom.

We participtaed in the Dance Party: Move It, Shake it, Celebrate it! So much fun!

We then went to Town's Square Theatre and got to meet some famous people. It was my first time meting Mickey, but I get to hang out with the princesses all the time at work now.

So all in all another unreal day.
I was a little sad though- It's Mother's Day and I'm not with my mum :( I have the best mum in the whole world and we have so much fun together. I really miss her today! Working at CRT and seeing all the families, and having just been to CRT with my mum last year, it was an extra sadness.
But I know I'll see her soon :)

Days Off

Today was my first "Day off" Yay!

I woke up leisurely.. which was sooo nice.. Steph had training today but was super quiet so I didn't even hear her wake up (thank youuuu).

I went to the gym, figured out some laundry stuff, walked to Walgreens to get some stuff.. pretty efficient morning!

In the afternoon, Danielle, Sara, Alexis and I did Animal Kingdom! It was so much fun! I love AK.. so cute.
The highlight was watching this dance party take place in the African village with African style music and parents dancing with their kids- Disney creates such cute family memories. Parents were dancing like crazy and it was so cute to see everyone having fun together. :)

We also got some hilarious pictures on Dinosaur and Expedition Everest.

I rode Primeval Whirl for the first time... holy moly stomach ache. That ride is insane haha definitely deceiving.

I also got to see the Jungle Parade which was pretty cute.

The lines once again were SOOO reasonable! May must be down season- we didn't even need to fast pass safari!

All in all good day! :)

LOLOLOL

Dani, Alexis, Sara, me :) These girls are so sweet! They're so chill and laid back, game for anything, and so nice! :)

GIRAFFE UP CLOSE

Hey there

Chip or Dale

The Magic Continues

Today was one of those days that starts off really slow but then gets better!

I had training from 8-12 at the Disney University.. It was so so so so boring. It was boring because it was a lot of common sense and basic food handlers course- which I took last summer.

Like I don't have too much to report about that.

The highlight was I got my work shoes! I don't have to pay for them yay! They're also not that hideous too which is nice. They're black, with a little strap. Kinda cute if you ask me compared to some others...

I came back and made some lunch- I ended up having the apartment to myself so I just chilled and watched Private Practice and Grey's (OMG SO GOOD).

Alexis ended up coming back from Walmart then the two of us headed out to Hollywood Studios! That was so so so much fun! :) We rode so many fun rides. My favorite was Toy Story Mania! It was a long wait but so worth it. Very much fun. We also watched the Beauty and the Beast show... LOVE it. It was also great to feel the rush of the Rock n Roller coaster again. I think HS is my second favorite park after MK of course!

So the cool thing is, even after a boring day of training, I can still like grab a friend and had to a Disney park. For free. Like how cool is that?!?!

So I'm off tomorrow and then Sunday I start for real at Cinderella's Royal Table! YAY!

Real Life

I found today was kind of like the first day of "real life". I got up SUPER early- had to be at MK for 7:15.. and went to a training day. We had "Once Upon a Time is Now" training. Every cast member who works at the Magic Kingdom gets this training, and it's basically an orientation to the park. We had a four hour tour of onstage/backstage of MK, and we even got get paid to ride some rides (and go straight to the front of the line!) I also noticed I got some sun but in a tan form and not burn form! We also got to watch the Morning Show.. I love the MK Welcome Show!!

The afternoon was a lot of formalities and paperwork type stuff so not really much to report on.

Highlight of training day: receiving my BEAUTIFUL costume (heh)!!! So excited to work at the CRT!

I got back, made a healthy supper, had a good laugh with the roomies Saira, Steph and Erica - and Jenny!

. I then went to the bus stop pool and hung out with some people. We were gonna go to Hollywood Studios but all of these early mornings are catching up with me.

So basically you can tell by the length of this post that today was quite normal.. as much as living and working at WDW can be normal. Don't get me wrong- it was still very magical, but it's starting to sink in- this is where I live for a bit, this is work, these are "my people". But the good news is I like it- I'm comfortable, happy.. very excited to start actually working at Cinderella's Royal Table on Sunday! :)
