Disney Dreaming

February 20th 2011. My first time at the Magic Kingdom. Sure, I was eighteen years old but you can't say I wasn't as excited if not more so than the young children around me.

It was spring break of my first year of university at Acadia. A trip to Walt Disney World with my mum was how I was spending it.

We spent the entire week in Orlando. We stayed on the All Star Music resort, and used the Disney transportation and everything- a full Disney week. We managed to hit all the parks (including the best attractions from each park) as well as Universal Studio's Island of Adventure (Big Harry Potter fan!).

I had planned this trip so well, if I do say so myself. Mum had bought be a Birnbaum Disney planning book for Christmas, and so whenever I was procrastinating at school I'd plan Disney. I knew how fast passes worked, and we planned which rides we wanted to hit, so we basically didn't have to wait in lines. Pretty good for Disney newbs!

It was actually the most wonderful week ever- I learned that Disney was absolutely magical. There isn't a happier place on Earth, they're right about that. For one, Florida weather is gorgeous (or maybe we just had a good week). Secondly, Disney has this way of making everything, even the most usual common things, seem so amazing. Just eating at restaurants was a huge experience at Disney.

My favorite rides were Splash Mountain and the Rock'n'Roller Coaster.. both for different reasons. Splash Mountain told a story and had catchy music.. well.. Rock'n'Roller Coaster had these elements too but also was the scariest thing I've ever experienced.

It's hard to say what my favorite park was or even is. I think I'd say Magic Kingdom but it's so hard to choose one over the other!

I loved Magic Kingdom because it's a timeless classic. Seeing the castle, riding the rides I had always heard so much about (Pirates, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, the list goes on). I loved seeing the characters and even waited in lines with people half my height to meet some. I LOVED Wishes- definitely shed a tear. I also loved the Electrical Parade. At Magic Kingdom, we ate at Casey's Corner for lunch (yeah good luck finding a vegetarian option there haha). Supper was AMAZING. We ate at Cinderella's Royal Table in the castle!! A total dream come true.

Hollywood Studios was FANTASTIC as well. We planned to go on a Fantasmic night... easily the best show at Disney, it blew my mind. So good!
I chickened out of Tower of Terror.. but I did do Rock'n'Roller Coaster (LOVED IT).
We saw the Beauty and the Beast Show (LOVED IT), and did the Little Mermaid ride. We ate at Mom's 50's Prime Time Cafe (hilarious) and Hollywood and Vine. I also loved the Great Movie Ride! Rode it twice!

Animal Kingdom was a blast.. I remember getting there an hour early before it opened (we wanted to go to Expedition Everest REALLY bad).. as soon as it opened, we along with a huge mob of people, booked it to this ride.. we decided not to use our fastpasses on this and just wait in the line- good call, we rode the second run! SUCH a good ride, it was my mum's favorite of the week.
We also did the safaris, the rapids, saw the Lion King (so good). We ate lunch at a buffet restaurant (the something house... the name slips me), and supper at Rainforest Cafe.

Epcot was our last day.. it was really different than the other parks, it seemed like a fun interactive museum. We booked it to Soarin' and rode it right away. We ate lunch at Tutto Italia which was amazing, huge pasta fan. We had supper in the UK at the pub. Mum enjoyed this haha. I loved Spaceship Earth and meeting the Beast (my two Epcot highlights)

We also went to Downtown Disney twice and looked around.

Universal day was amazing (might be blasphemous to say) but their rides are SOOOOO good. I loved them! I did the Hulk roller coaster all by myself!

I was so sad to leave when the trip was over :(

I was definitely bit by the Disney bug and I knew then and there I would be back.
