Have faith in your dreams, and someday, your rainbow will come smiling through

Today is a day I will remember.
It got better as it went along, but I'll start at the beginning.

I woke up leisurely this morning. I decided to go to the gym, then go for a little walk around Vista. I went to Walgreens, got a few things, then I walked to a big souvenir/food outlet store and bought some Florida souvenirs. Pretty generic morning.

THEN I GOT ON THE BUS TO WORK AND MY LIFE WAS COMPLETE.

So I took the A bus into work, got in, met my trainer again. I had the same trainer today as yesterday. I started my shift at 3:45.

The first thing we did was more e-learning stuff, so this stuff wasn't too too exciting. But then I had to read up on the "Cinderella Story"- We have this huge binder with pages on all the princesses, all the characters, their traits, their stories, etc, and I had to read it. There aren't too many jobs you can say require knowledge of princesses but this is one of them. Did I learn anything new? Yes, actually- I didn't know Cinderella's maiden name (Tremaine) or the names of her stepsisters (Anastasia and Drizella). I didn't even know there was a Cinderella three and I barely remembered the sequel.

We then went to the break room and got to sample the entire dinner menu. Holy smokes what a treat. Again, a large portion was inedible for me because of my partial vegetarianism but what I did try was phenomenal. I tried the cobia which is a fish caught off the coast of Florida- good cultural experience there. It was quite similar to haddock and I really enjoyed it. My favorite dessert was the chocolate mousse. My trainer laughed at me because I kept saying OOOOOH MY GOSH...OHHHH MY GOSH. It was SO good.

One of my favorite things about my job is the prep kitchen (we have two kitchens, a prep downstairs and the big one upstairs). They have huge speakers in there and they're always rockin' out. Yesterday they were on Michael Jackson, today random rock and roll, but when I left it was Empire State of Mind. Fun times.

Thennnn I got to go downstairs and learn how to do the podium. This is where guests check in. We welcome them, and explain the photo procedures (everyone takes pictures with Cindy downstairs, then goes upstairs. The other princesses circulate the tables upstairs). I was also trained to be greeter.... when you're greeter you like use a gong on these bells and announce LORDS AND LADIES OF THE CASTLE, CINDERELLA HAS AN INVITATION FOR THE ROYAL DOUCET FAMILY, LADY LINDSAY (or whatever the name is). I like this role. You also get to a wear a headset and look important.

Basically, I LOVE BEING OUT FRONT. This is where dreams come true. I saw so many little girls dressed up like princesses. I saw a lot of little Meridas. Merida is the girl from Brave- and you can tell already she's gonna be popular.

I love her already. I think she has some spunk.

But being outside you do get to talk to everyone. I had some good chats with people standing outside. I don't know, it really doesn't sound as amazing as it was when I put it into words. But I love children so much and just kneeling down and listening to them freak out about their amazing day at Disney World is so priceless. Like this is precisely what I signed up for. I really hope I can be downstairs as greeter or at the podium very often because I just loved it.

People also ask you a ton of questions about the Magic Kingdom and I love answering those too- putting my Disney knowledge to use!

Fun fact for you: did you know the center of the Magic Kingdom is right in front of the doors to our restaurant and is marked by a peg in the ground? Truth.

We had to wait until everyone was out of the restaurant at night and then we went home. I rolled into Vista at around 12:45 which was decent, but I'm just so tired because I was on my feet all day.

Another breath taking moment today was seeing Main Street USA all lit up at night but completely empty. Not everyone gets to see that. Also yesterday at my breakfast shift, my trainer was like "come here, you'll like this"- Main Street USA in the morning but completely empty. It actually did take my breath away.

Tonight I also watched the fireworks from underneath the castle (surprisingly you can see them- you'd think they were above the castle but they're actually more above Fantasyland). I love watching fireworks next to kids that are like WOW OH MY GOSH. So cute!

I wish everyone could get the chance to do what I do, just to see how amazing it is to create magic. I dress up, and go to work in a castle, with princesses and happy families. It really is the place where dreams come true!

Everyone is really nice too. My trainer was amazing. I also met some other CP's and they live in Vista too! I'm really looking forward to developing relationships with my coworkers as they seem like fantastic people.

SO happy with my job. You know it's a good sign when you tear up a few times just from happiness at your place of employment. Can't complain about that.

Salaga-doola, menchika-boola, Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo. Put them together, and what have you got? Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo. Salaga-doola, menchika-boola, Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo. It will do magic, believe it or not, Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo. Now, "Salagadoola" means, "A-Menchika-boola-roo," but the the thingamabob, that does the job, is "Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo."
